Thompson State Fish Hatchery was established in 1922. This facility produces Chinook salmon, steelhead and walleye for both inland and Great Lakes waters. This hatchery offers educational signage and self-guided tours, including informational videos explaining hatchery operations. The facility also offers a show pond filled with large trout, and fish viewing in outside buildings open September through May.
Thompson State Fish Hatchery is open to the public at no charge. Tours and visitor center are self-guided and open daily. Please note that hatchery buildings are closed to unguided public tours due to fish health and public safety concerns. Please call ahead to schedule group tours.
